Muggshot

The muscle-bound bulldog who never met a problem he couldn't punch.

Muggshot

Muggshot is a lilac-colored American Bulldog who is one of the supporting antagonists of Sly 1, featured in the second level. He grew up as the runt of the litter, regularly picked on by the bigger dogs. Inspired by watching gangster movies, he eventually decided to work out in order to grow as strong as possible so that he could defeat all the bullies and never be picked on again. However, due to being entirely focused on brawn, he conversely did little to advance his knowledge and is thus notoriously unintelligent.

Lore & Background

Muggshot's backstory is one of insecurity turned to obsession. As the runt of his litter, he was constantly bullied by larger dogs, which drove him to watch gangster movies for inspiration. He decided that the only way to never be picked on again was to become as strong as possible, so he dedicated himself entirely to working out. This single-minded focus made him immensely powerful but left him notoriously unintelligent, as he did little to advance his knowledge. In Sly 1, he was defeated by Sly and arrested. He briefly appeared in issue #2 of the comics as an inmate at Heathrow Prison. He returned in Sly 3 as a supporting villain in the third episode, where it was revealed that after escaping jail, he became a highly trained and lethal pilot in the annual ACES Competition, run by the Black Baron. His team was the runner-up in the previous year and the current year. Bentley deduced that to beat the Black Baron, Muggshot had to be removed from the competition, so Bentley tricked Muggshot into running into Carmelita, who defeated and arrested him. He returned once more in the animated promotional short for the fourth game, "Timing is Everything," where he stole an antique golden watch, but was once again thwarted by the Cooper Gang and arrested by Carmelita.

In Their Own Story

Muggshot's first defeat came at the hands of Sly in the first game, leading to his arrest. Later, after escaping jail, he entered the ACES Competition as a pilot, where his team had been runner-up the previous year. The Cooper Gang needed to remove him to have a better chance at beating the Black Baron, so Bentley tricked Muggshot into running into Carmelita, who defeated and arrested him again. In the animated short "Timing is Everything," Muggshot stole an antique golden watch, but the Cooper Gang thwarted him and Carmelita arrested him once more.
